Arsenal are likely to go with their similar Europa League side which will see the likes of Joe Willock and Martinelli back in the starting XI. Here is how they’re expected to line up:
The last time the sides faced each other in this competiton was ten years ago in the 2009/10 season which saw the Gunners come out as 2-1 winners with goals from Fran Mérida and Nicklas Bendtner. Going back slightly further most won’t forget the famous 6-3 goal fest at Anfield in which the North London side came out on top once again following an iconic display by brazilian forward Julio Batista.
The two sides have faced each other 14 times in past league cup fixtures and each of them won 5 of those, with 4 being draws..
