Barcelona target Arsenal left-back

Arsenal’s respective left-back options appear to be in peril as the team prepare for the 2019/20 Premier League season with Nacho Monreal and Sead Kolasinac linked with moves away from the Emirates.

It has been reported that Barcelona have admitted interest in Sead Kolasinac. The 25-year-old arrived at the Gunners in 2017 and has worked his way into becoming a valued member of the team. The player epitomises Arsenal’s attacking style, specifically in the 2018/19 season, forcing runs forward down the left-wing offering support to the team’s forwards. Ernesto Valverde’s Barcelona are looking to provide their first team left-back Jordi Alba with some competition.

Nacho Monreal has been linked to the La Liga champions in the past also, meaning if the Catalan side manage to pull off a double scoop for the pair in the summer, immediate replacements would be imperative.

The departure of Kolasinac and Monreal would undoubtedly cause problems for Unai Emery’s system at the club and finding a replacement with the team’s limited transfer budget for the upcoming season could prove difficult.

That being said, Arsenal have been linked with up and coming left-backs in recent weeks. Players like Ajax’s Nicolás Tagliafico and Celtic’s Kieran Tierney, who have been linked with the club, have demonstrated both impressive attacking and defensive abilities at the highest levels. Both player’s market values align with Arsenal’s permitted budget following their failure to secure Champion’s League football.
